Dragon magazine was one of the official magazines for information about the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. It debuted in 1976 as a successor to an earlier magazine named The Strategic Review and had a companion publication, Dungeon Magazine. Its last printed issue was #359 (September 2007). It continued publication in online form up until issue #430, published in September 2013. In the first semester of 2015 its sucessor, a digital publication aimed for mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones and named Dragon+, debuted.
Order of the Stick ran in Dragon Magazine from issue #339 through the end of that magazine's printed run with issue #359. The next-to-last page of #359 is an OOTS page. At the time the other comics featured in the magazine were Nodwick, Dork Tower, Zogonia, and What's New With Phil and Dixie.
The comics in Dragon Magazine are not considered to be from the same continuity as the webcomic's. They were collected, along with some new material, in the Snips, Snails, and Dragon Tales book. The Dragon continuity was briefly revived for the short run of Gygax magazine, though the characters were "rebooted" to low level.
