Transcript[]

Panel 1

Hel: It's not over! One vampire can create many.
Hel: By the time they replace their damn table, I will have a new legion to serve my will!

Panel 2

Loki: Pumpkin, you gotta learn to cut your losses. This scheme only got as far because no one expected it.
Loki: Now, they do. You're not going to win, so—
Hel: You're not going to win, either!

Panel 3

Hel: You can't stop the Snarl from devouring this world with procedural rules. You can't stop it at all!
Hel: Any day now, all your precious swindlers and cutthroats will be wiped out, just like they always are.
Hel: Maybe I will get nothing, but you will get not one soul more than me!

Panel 4

Hel's face becomes emaciated and her body radiating with energy.
Hel: Once this planet crumbles, I will be free of your wretched wager forever.
Hel: Free to empower my own living clerics, and as my first commandment, I will task them with slaughtering your followers in hideous ways wherever they lurk.
Hel: You will waste away and DIE as your name is erased from every history book.
Hel: Now get out of my domain!

Panel 5

Hel's appearance fades and she collapses into her throne. Loki is horrified.
Hel: Unnnh…

Panel 6

Thrym: OK, just a little too much excitement for one day.
Thrym: Do you want to give some old people shingles? That always settles you down.
Hel: No. Go away.
Hel: …
Hel: Maybe.
Loki leaves, looking sad.

Trivia[]

  • Panel 4 is the only time in the comic a character's speech bubble color changes. Yellow is the color of her divine quiddity, black has typically signified the undead.
  • As confirmed in the next comic, Hel's faded appearance in panel 5 is the result of her expending her energy while starving for Worship in this world.[1]
  • This is the latest appearance of:
    • Hel, goddess of death, first appeared in #737, and has run in nineteen strips.
    • Thrym, Lord of Frost Giants, first appeared in #1012.
