History[]
According to the Dark One, goblinoids were create for the sole purpose of providing appropriate low-level challenges for low-leveled members of more favored races. According to Thor, Fenrir created the goblins as a short lived but prolific race under the belief that this would allow them to outcompete the other sentient races of the world.[1]
In any case, the gods' apathy toward the wellbeing of the goblinoid races resulted in them being severely disadvantaged compared to others. As a result, goblins in the current setting are frequently preyed upon by other races and are relegated to living in inhospitable environments.
A long time ago, the Dark One ascended to godhood, and now serves as the sole deity of all goblinoids.
Goblinoid relations[]
Green goblins are closely related to hobgoblins and bugbears. The term "goblin" is used variably to refer to green goblins specifically[2][3], or all of the goblinoids collectively[4][5][6][7][8][9]. Normal goblins are occasionally referred to as "green goblins" to disambiguate them. It is unknown whether other goblinoids such as norkers and nilbogs exist in the setting.
According to Redcloak, hobgoblins have a more efficient and warlike society, and bullied their green cousins[2]. Regardless of this claim, he is allowed to partake in the Hobgoblin manhood ritual to be accepted into the tribe[10], and when he becomes Supreme Leader, his authority is accepted, despite not being a hobgoblin. However, the Monster in the Darkness's trenchant political analysis implies that there still exists some feelings from historical specious divisions[3].
Gobbotopia is a sovereign state by and for all goblinoids, and promotes a sense of unity between the various golbinoid races.

Trivia[]
- It is debated whether in comic #10 (Like Enthrall, Only Boring), the goblin guards are speaking Goblin or Warcraft Orcish. Regardless, throughout the rest of the comics, they are shown speaking Common.
- Despite the fact that Goblins are Small Creatures in the Monster Manual, they are clearly Medium in the comic. According to Thor, this was a conscious (but inexplicable) decision made by Fenrir[1].
- Goblins have blue tongues[11].
