Heimdall is the God of the Watch[1] and a deity of the Asgardian Pantheon. He is based on the Norse god of the same name.
At the Northern Godsmoot, Heimdall was chosen to present the argument in favor of the destruction of the world, the issue before the godsmoot. It was his opinion that while the destruction of the world was regrettable, it was necessary to avoid the danger to the gods presented should the Gates be destroyed and the Snarl freed from its prison. In addition, the souls of the dead of the world would pass on to the afterlife, rather than being utterly destroyed as they would should the Snarl kill them.[2]
He was shocked and dismayed when Hel arrived at the Godsmoot. Hel thought that he might have changed his vote if he knew what she was up to, but that is not allowed according to the rules of the Godsmoot.
Heimdall, through his High Priest, voted "yes" for the destruction of the world.
