Kandro is one of a select group of friends of Durkon Thundershield and of his mother Sigdi Thundershield, along with Shirra, Hoskin, Thirden, and one other unnamed dwarf. He is bald, but has a full beard of light beige color, later fully white. He taught Durkon to fight with a hammer and shield. He is first named indirectly[1], and later directly addressed as Uncle Kandro.[2]
Kandro and Sigdi's other close friends were killed in a poison gas leak in a copper mine shortly before Durkon's birth. Sigdi had Kandro resurrected with her own money despite having never met him before, in order to save him from an afterlife in Hel’s domain.[3]
Kandro taught Durkon to fight with a hammer and shield, training him by fighting sapling trees.
When Durkon returned to Firmament and to life, Kandro answered Sigdi's call for aid, joining in the fighting outside the Council of Clan Elders.
Kandro died being eaten whole while holding back the giant death worm summoned by a vampirized Gontor Hammerfell. His departure was to the relief of his onlooking dwarven relations, who expressed concern he'd die by dishonorable means due to his advanced age.
