- Had the party actually been surprised, the bandits would have gotten a surprise round.
- Barkskin is a spell which increases a target's armor. A potion of Barkskin costs 300 gold, and is considered a minor magic item, which only appears 15% of the time in a 2nd-level encounter on the standard treasure tables.
