Blackwing mentally informs the Order that they missed their window of opportunity to ambush Xykon. When Roy takes the news badly, Blackwing wonders why he can't hear his thoughts through the link.

- Panel 1
The panel shows Sunny's corner, with a beanbag, a dartboard with several darts on and around it, a crayon drawing, a green and yellow box and some sheets of paper on top of a hinged crate and a ladder.
Sunny: So this corner is mine! That's my beanbag where I sit quietly while Mom is sleeping.
Elan: I like your drawings!

The panel focuses on three crayon drawings taped to the wall, with one showing Sunny and Serini, the second a young Serini and Kraagor fighting against a dragon and the third showing the Snarl.
Sunny: (off-panel) Thanks! I have trouble using my telekinesis on really small things so Mom got me crayons to practice with.

The panel shifts back on Sunny and Elan.
Sunny: Someday I'll get good enough to use a quill and ink, and then I'll learn how to write letters! And words!
Elan: You're going to love writing. Putting what's in your head down on paper is almost like magic!
Elan: Except when it's a spell, then it is magic!

The panel shifts to Roy and Serini, who are walking to the right towards Sunny.
Roy: Actually, if we could cancel the tour and regroup for a moment? Time is a factor.
Serini: Eh, it's fine. Xykon's nowhere near finding the Gate.
Roy: Good to know, but I'm more concerned about a key tactical advantage slipping away.

Sunny and Elan move towards Roy and Serini.
Roy: You know those magical trap lines that cross the tunnels and act as an invisible portal to the individual dungeons?
Serini: The ones I designed and had inscribed and have been dealing with for 50-odd years?
Sunny: We call them "swap-overs."
- Panel 6
The panel focuses on Roy.
Roy: Right, those.
Roy: Xykon and Redcloak are on the other side of one right now. If we hurry back to the tunnel we were in when you lured Elan away, we can set up an ambush.
Roy: Since they don't know about the swap-over, we can jump out and take them by surprise.
- Panel 7
The panel shifts to show Haley, Vaarsuvius, Roy and Serini, with Roy pointing at the wall.
Vaarsuvius: However, this stratagem will only be effective if our combined forces are in position before our opponents cross back over the threshold to the canyon.
Roy: Exactly right. So if you could get your, uh, child to pop this wall open again, we can all head back up to-
- Panel 8
The panel shifts to Blackwing in his observation spot outside of the tunnels.
Blackwing: (thinking) Hey, everyone?
- Panel 9
The panel shifts bach to Haley, Vaarsuvius and Roy.
Haley: Oh no.
Roy: (thinking) No. No. Blackwing- No.
Roy: (thinking) You better be contacting us with some inane chatter about a reflective object. I don't want to hear anything else from you right now.
- Panel 10
The panel shifts back to Blackwing.
Blackwing: (thinking) Huh. OK, I mean, I can do that. There was this really glittery icicle I could talk about.
Blackwing: (thinking) But I'm sort of in a weird position because you specifically asked me earlier to tell you as soon as Xykon came out.
- Panel 11
The panel pans down to show Xykon levitating out of a tunnel while looking backwards into it.
Blackwing: (thinking) (off-panel) Which he just did.
Blackwing: (thinking) (off-panel) So, not 100% sure what I'm supposed to do here.
Xykon: Yeah, I don't care. Nothing left for us to kill means I'll wait out here while you two play junior detective.
- Panel 12
The panel shifts back to a furious Roy, his profanity-filled speech bubbles covered by Blackwings's thought bubbles, with only a "Goddamn" clearly readable.
Blackwing: (thinking) (off-panel) ...Roy? Roy, are you there? Are you reading me?
Blackwing: (thinking) (off-panel) You need to project your thoughts into the link or I can't hear you, Roy.
Blackwing: (thinking) (off-panel) Is this thing on?

Trivia[]
- This is the latest appearance of Kraagor, the valiant dwarven member of the Order of the Scribble who died fighting the Snarl while sealing the final gate. His death led to divisions with the Order of the Scribble. He first appeared in Serini Toormuck's diary in #196, The Diary, and has appeared in nineteen strips, mostly as the statue of him at his tomb.
