Transcript[]

Panel 1

The panel shows Belkar, Bloodfeast, Mr. Scruffy, Mimi, Minrah, and Haley as they walk down a corridor, with Minrah looking backwards at Mimi.
Minrah: So, Mimi... how long have you been working with Serini?
Haley: (thinking) I don't think she can talk...
Minrah: (thinking) So what? Does that mean we shouldn't try to get to know her?

Panel 2

The panel focuses on Mimi's hand as she holds it up and adds three more fingers to it to answer Minrah's question. poink! poink! poink!

Panel 3

The panel expands to show Mr. Scruffy, Mimi, Minrah, and Haley again.
Minrah: Wow, seven years, huh?
Haley: I can't look, I'm gonna throw up.

Panel 4

The panel expands even further to show Mimi, Belkar, Minrah, Haley, Elan, Roy, and Serini as they come to an intersection, with a closed door in the background and the Threads of Creation at the panel's upper edge.
Belkar: (thinking) Hey Minrah, ask her if she can turn into a treasure chest.
Minrah: (thinking) I am not asking her that!
Serini: Ok, I think... I think we want to go this way.

Panel 5

The panel focuses on Elan, Roy, and Serini.
Roy: You don't sound very sure.
Serini: Of course I'm not sure!
Serini: The best path is the one we just left. But I built this place with a lot of different ways to get where we're going. I can make this work.

Panel 6

The panel focuses even further, showing Serini alone as she crosses through a doorway.
Serini: Oh! Yeah, there we go. I know where we are now.

Panel 7

The panel expands to show a room with a big chasm, with a walkway connecting the platform that Haley, Elan, Roy, and Serini are standing on to one on the other side.
Serini: It's the big room, with the thing.

Panel 8

The panel focuses on Elan and Roy as the latter grabs the hilt of his sword.
Roy: Everyone, stay on your toes.
Elan: Because of the wide shot that establishes the geography of the room?
Roy: And it's a walkway. Nothing good happens on a walkway.

D&D Context[]

Mimics can speak and understand Common - whether Mimi chooses to stay silent or simply cannot speak (due to being an irregular mimic) is unknown.

Trivia[]

  • Belkar's line in panel 4 is a reference to a SSDT comic involving himself and a mimic shaped like a treasure chest. Haley's in it, too.
  • So far the Order has encountered walkways before in 55 while pursuing the Talisman of Dorukan (inmediately followed by the Linear Guild betraying them). Also, Durkon created a walkway in 1165 (which was immediately followed by his "uncle" Kandro's death), thus the Order having a 100% "nothing good happens" rate with them. This particular walkway is likely a reference to the first one, as the color scheme and design of the Final Dungeon clearly resemble those of the Dungeon of Dorukan.
  • You can see the Threads of Creation (discussed in 1291) clipping through the ceiling in panel 4.
