Sangwaan was a female human diviner or shugenja. Sangwaan wore a blindfold but seemed mostly unhampered by it due to her oracular magic—though she occasionally needed to be pointed in the direction of those to whom she was speaking. She was a top aide to Lord Hinjo, providing him with magical intelligence in the hours leading up to the Battle of Azure City.[1][2]
Lord Shojo tried to get Hinjo interested in Sangwaan during their New Year's Eve dinner by suggesting that she is interested. During Lord Shojo's funeral, Sangwaan noted: "He never treated me any differently because of my disability. He tried to look down my shirt the same as he did to all the other girls."
She was crucial in detecting Xykon's attempt to bypass the city walls and attack the throne room directly, using a True Seeing spell to thwart his invisibility.[3] Unfortunately, she was then immediately flung from the walls by Xykon's undead dragon steed and killed.[4]
Other Appearances[]
Sangwaan plays a significant role in Therkla's bonus comic, "Spoiler Alert", which was published in February 2015 and one of the bonus prizes from the OOTS Kickstarter drive.
