Haley plays her (very important) part in the battle.
- Panel 1
Elan: Tumble, tumble, tumble, tumble my way to the big, scary gate!
- Panel 2
Elan: Wow, that was easier than I thought it would be. I guess all those goblins are still confused by all the Attack of Opportunity rules.
- Panel 3
Elan: OK, well, let's see what happens when I touch it. I hope doing so doesn't arbitrarily complete the villain's secret plan.
- Panel 4
Xykon: Almost there...
- Panel 5
Elan leans closer to touch the gate.
- Panel 6
Xykon: C'mon! TOUCH IT!
Monster in the Darkness: All the cool kids are doing it!
- Panel 7
Elan leans even closer to the gate.
- Panel 8
Haley lands on Elan.
- Panel 9
Haley ends up straddling Elan, who is lying supine.
Haley: DON'T! Don't touch the gate!! That's what Xykon wants!! It's a trick! DON'T TOUCH THE GATE!
- Panel 10
Elan: OK! OK, I won't touch it.
Haley: Well, good.
- Panel 11
- Panel 12
Beat. They continue to stare at each other, Haley lying astraddle Elan.
- Panel 13
Elan: So, umm...
Haley: Oh, right.
- Panel 14
Elan: I brought your bow.
Haley: Good! Good.
- Panel 15
- Panel 16
Elan: So.... Wanna kill some goblins?
Haley: Thought you'd never ask.
D&D Context Edit
- The Tumble skill can also be used to move past an opponent without provoking an Attack of Opportunity.
- The many different actions that provoke or don't provoke Attacks of Opportunity are somewhat difficult to keep track of. It is one of the more arcane sections of the rules.
- This comic has the first clue of Haley and Elan falling in love with each other.
- The title could refer to the build-up towards the climax of the story, or to the obvious sexual tension between Elan and Haley.
