Thirden, sometimes called "Squeaky", is a dwarf, a friend of Durkon Thundershield and of his mother Sigdi Thundershield.
His hair and beard are light grey. Having dropped out of Bard College to become a miner, he was one of thirty-seven miners killed in a poison gas leak in a copper mine. Sigdi used her own money to raise him, despite having never met him before his death, in order to save him from an afterlife in Hel.[1] After being resurrected, he became a good friend of Sigdi, and returned to Bard College to finish his studies.
At some point in Durkon's childhood, Thirden unsuccessfully tried to teach Durkon to play the saxophone.
When Durkon was the dwarf equivalent to a human teenager, Thirden told him the story of how Durkon's father died and his mother lost her arm.
At some point before Durkon's ordination, he took on an apprentice named Janna.
When Durkon returned to Firmament and to life, Thirden and his apprentice answered Sigdi's call to aid, joining in the fighting outside the Council of Clan Elders. He entered the council chamber when the magical barrier came down and supported those who held Gontor Hammerfell in the sunlight to destroy him. After Durkon stopped the council vote and was petrified, Thirden and Janna returned him to flesh with a Song of Freedom.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Thirden is capable of singing a Song of Freedom, making him a fairly high level bard (12+). In addition, his former apprentice Janna is also capable of this feat, suggesting that he may be even more powerful.[2][3]
