Warthog is the warthog-headed Headteacher of Warthog's School of Wizardry and Sorcery. He was already on the school staff when Eugene Greenhilt was a child student, overseeing Eugene's magical duel with Suzy Finkelstein, which makes him old by human standards.

When the Linear Guild came to his school looking to the recruits, when they needed to find an Evil opposite to fight Vaarsuvius, and showed them Larry Gardener, a parody of Harry Potter. Thog killed Larry, which pleased Warthog, as he had been "Wanting to do that for six books. Years. I mean six years."

After showing them 40 candidates, including eleven who Must Not Be Named, four who Must Not Be Looked At, two who Must Not Be Spoken To, and the one who Must Not Be Toilet-Trained ("thog got to use a mop!"), he showed them Pompey, an evil half-elf wizard who specialized in Conjuration. The Linear Guild decided to accept Pompey as a member.

Warthog bears striking similarities to the Ruby Spears Legend of Zelda Cartoon (that played sometimes during the Super Mario Bros Super Show) version of Ganon, whose head looked like a Warthog, had a dark blue robe, just like Warthog appears.

Warthog is most likely a Wizard not a Sorcerer, since the sorcerer program at his school is "an Associate's Degree."
